Frozen Summer Fun!

On Wednesday August 6 I took my daughter to Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World for their Frozen Summer Fun celebration. All summer long Hollywood Studios is celebrating all things Frozen. From a giant Olaf sand sculpture to ice skating, a sing along, treats and goodies, to special photo ops set up all through the park. This was the last day of her summer vacation that it would be just her and myself so I wanted to do something special with her. Frozen is of course her FAVORITE movie right now. I know, big surprise there right? Anyways here's a look at our day of Frozen Summer Fun!

At the entrance when you approach there sits a giant sand sculpture of Olaf enticing you to take in on some Frozen Summer Fun.
As soon as we entered we ran over to the Premier Theater near the Cars photo op, across from Muppet Vision 3D. This is a pro tip to avoid waiting in a very long line. If you plan on attending, do this FIRST. Passes will run out and standby is for if they can fit you in after everyone with a pass has gone in. When it came time for our return we waited only 30 minutes before entering the theater and was about half way back.
One of many photo op spots throughout the park. Photo pass pictures will include Frozen characters into your photos. We normally don't purchase photopass photos so we skipped the animated photo ops.
Inside Wandering Oaken's Frozen Funland you have the opportunity to go ice skating for $10. Skating lasts for 30 minutes. Rental includes clean socks, skates, and a helmet for safety. This was Amara's first time ever ice skating and she had a blast doing it.

You also get to play in "snow". Which was really shaved iced compacted down tightly. Nothing like snow. Amara had fun anyways building a snowman.
We then took a seat on the steps of American Idol, as recommended by my favorite Disney tips website, Kenny The Pirate, for Anna and Elsa's Royal Welcome.

After the Royal Welcome we headed over to Studio Catering Co. to grab some lunch. We carried our lunch over to Premier Theater and grabbed our spot in the fast pass line and enjoyed a delicious little lunch in the shade.
Amara was really excited about this. This was a little stage show that went through and told the Frozen story while presenting a sing along for all Frozen fans to join in on. Amara sang all of the songs with so much joy and enthusiasm.

After the sing along and a couple rides we headed over to the Animation Courtyard. Amara had wanted to do the drawing class they have, but the line was so long and full of people just trying to get some AC. I made a suggestion to check out the Wreck It Ralph line. I had heard rumors that they will be leaving soon (which are now confirmed as of today). So figuring this would be our last opportunity to do a meet and greet with them we got in line to say our goodbyes to them.
Ralph and Vanellope will be replaced by Hiro and Baymax from Big Hero 6 this coming fall. Presumably at the end of October.

A few hours later we headed over to the Icon Stage for the dance party. DJ Chill would be playing dance pop hits and some recognizable characters would come out and join the party.

Just look at the smile on that kids face!

After dancing for about 20 minutes it was time to head to Streets of America for what character hunters refer to as Characterpalooza. This is an unannounced, unadvertised character meet with loads of characters. This happens every day at a specific time depending on what time Fantasmic is that night. You can find the schedule on Kenny The Pirate, which is linked above or in the left hand side column. Due to the busy season once the characters came out, the street filled up quickly. We didn't meet all the characters we would have liked to, but we did manage to get 4 total. First was Mr. Penguin and Mary Poppins.
Then we met Captain Hook where Amara pulled a picture up of Tick Tock on her phone and showed Captain Hook. He then got scared and ran away from her.
After Hook we met Mr. Smee. Other characters out for this Characterpalooza were: Max (Goofy's son), Meeko, Mulan, Aladdin & Jasmine together, Gepetto & Pinocchio together, Lilo & Stitch together, and 2 Green Army Men. I would have loved to get Lilo & Stitch because Lilo is hardly ever out for meet and greets anymore. I'll be back on the 23rd and 24th looking for her!
After Characterpalooza we headed back down to dance party to mingle with the characters we missed on our first pass through.

Well that's all for this trip. I'll be back down on August 24th for the Villains Unleashed Party and will be staying overnight and visiting again on the 24th for the Disney Foodies Meet Up. Hope you enjoyed the photos and tips!
