Incoming #7

A cute little postcard from Rayon in China. It pictures an assortment of different teas and other drinks. The Mango Green Tea looks really good! It's the last one in the fourth row. This was a card received through the Postcrossing forums under the "Surprise Me" tag. What a nice surprise!

I could not find any information regarding the stamp used. I was hoping to learn what this symbol says or means.

This postcard features prints of other old vintage mailings. I enjoy vintage and faux vintage cards very much. They have a particular beauty to them I think. This one comes to me from Julia located in Russia. The Postcrosing ID for this card is RU-3094219.

I especially like the stamp used on this one. It's one from the 2014 Winter Olympics that took place in Sochi. I'm not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy Olympics memorabilia.

This postcard travels all the way from Russia. I love the beautiful fountain pictured on this. This certainly looks like a beautiful city. I unfortunately do not know what city it is featured on the postcard as it is all written in Russian. The Postcrossing ID for this card is RU-3084928.

Incoming #3

This postcard is a homemade postcard from Postcrossing user kyoto348. It's covered on the front with used stamps from all over. They even put a lot of great stamps on the backside for postage. Sent from Japan. This user is currently in 4th place on most cards sent from Japan as well as 4th place in longest distance sent from Japan. That's pretty impressive to me. Postcard ID for this is JP-598588.

On Postcrossing under the forums tab you can open yourself up to even more trades. I recently participated in a few tag posts. Tag posts are where there is one subject matter and you tag the person who replied before you. You get their address, you send them a card related to the tag, and the next person to respond tags you. This postcard comes from one of those. The subject matter of this was Disney Stamps. I was tagged by user Chao Naii from Taiwan. This is what they sent me.

Just as I am doing with the outgoing posts, I am doing the same with incoming posts. I have taken a real liking to my postcards and stamps. I wouldn't call myself a collector by any means. I just like getting new ones, I love the artwork, I love the mystery of it's travels. I enjoy reading what others write and seeing their unique handwriting. There is just something very intimate and personal about a handwritten postcard or letter that we are gradually losing with the likes of internet and social media. So here is incoming mail number one.

On October 24, My husband and I shared and celebrated our 12th anniversary. A wonderful family, whose friendship is very much cherished, sent us this card while we were away on vacation. The Preston Family are the ones who initially introduced me to Postcrossing and opened my heart up to a whole new world out there. Never did I expect this hobby to take over such a big part of me. For that I am forever grateful.

Going Out #1

I was thinking I'd like to do a new presentation of out and in mail. Dropping the postcard and postcrossing tags from the posts. I've seen different variations from different blogs and I like the one per post looks. So here is my first go round at singular posts for outgoing and incoming mail.

Today I have this card going out to Hisayo Yamaguchi in Saitama, Japan. Postcrossing card ID is US-3057947

Outgoing Mail October 27

Well over the past week or so my husband and I have been out thrifting here and there. I shared about one spectacular find of old vintage postcards that I got an amazing deal on. I found another lot a few days ago while on vacation. This is the first outgoing mail with just a few of those cards. I'm so excited to have such a variety to pick and choose from!

Jason from Texas, United States requested odd cards. I think we can all agree this one is pretty odd.

Matia in Italy likes postcards with ships. This is one from the stack of vintage cards I found this past week. It's a very beautiful card.

Gunter in Germany requested city views of my hometown. How about the Dames Point Bridge over the St. Johns River at Sunset?

Another hometown view request from Anne in The Netherlands. I sent her this beautiful street view from St. Augustine.

This wild and eclectic card is headed to Ukraine. Another one from the vintage pile!

Polukeyeve in Belarus likes buildings and architecture. Hopefully they enjoy this interesting building design.

From the Postcrossing forums, I recently tagged someone under the Disney topic. I hope Abra in California likes princesses.

And not too long ago I shared an image from the Postcrossing Facebook page on my own timeline. It showed a little person checking the mail and it read "Happiness is receiving a Postcard." or something very similar to that effect. A friend of mine commented that she "then is not very happy". I asked her for her address and hopefully this will bring her a moment of happiness.

Last, but not least, for my personal outgoing is a letter to my PenPal Zhang in China. Included is a 3 page letter, some stationery items, a magnet from a roadstop from our most recent road trip, and a pressed penny. I also decorated her envelope with quite a few stamps for her stamp collection.

This week Jesse decided he wanted to fill out his own postcards to send off. So here are his outgoings for tomorrow.

To Eva in Germany

To Cynthia in Spain. This is another one of those great vintage finds!

To Stassia in Belarus

To Joke in Netherlands
