On March 26 Amara and I set out on a 1 day trip to Disney for some fun in the sun. We both wanted to go through and enjoy some delights at the Flower and Garden Festival so we went to Epcot first. We strolled over to Cactus Road Ralley to check out the cacti on display. These are new this year and I enjoyed seeing the different varieties displayed.
We decided to get a bit touristy and have our photo taken with the Flower and Garden 2015 frame.
Our first stop was Pineapple Promenade. Amara opted for the Frozen Desert Violet Lemonade (with edible flower) while I chose a more adult item, Pineapple soft-serve with Sammy's Beach Bar Red Head Macadamia Nut-flavored Rum.
We strolled along while partaking in our choices. She really loved her frozen lemonade and I really enjoyed the dole-whip (pineapple soft-serve). We then stopped at Botanas Botanico. I got the White Corn Arepa and Amara chose the Coconut Tres Leches. I also got us the non-alcoholic version of La Tizana to share. I thoroughly enjoyed all three items from here. Amara did not care for the Coconut Tres Leches as much as she had hoped she would.
We made our way through Morocco and Japan and stopped off in at the Smokehouse. I wanted to try the Smoked Debreziner Sausage. Amara didn't want anything so we shared the sausage. We both LOVED this and fought over the pieces I had cut. It comes with Sauerkraut. I've never been a big fan of the stuff myself, but I said what the hell and gave it shot anyways. It was really good. I loved the pickled flavor it had and obviously complimented the sausage perfectly.
We then stopped off at Primavera Kitchen for some Cheese Manicotti. I wasn't impressed with this dish by any means which saddens me. My husband refuses to eat anything from the Italian kitchens at these festivals because he says it always tastes like Chef Boyardee. Every time I fight him and defend the food. Not this time. Had he been with us, he would have hit the head on the nail for this, because it did indeed taste like Chef Boyardee.
By the time we hot China Amara was feeling thirsty and found a drink on the Lotus House menu to try. She got the Oolong Peach Bubble Tea. She LOVED it. She talks about how good this was all the time, every chance she gets to. So if you have kids, this may be a good one for them.
As you can see we didn't try much as far as food from the outdoor kitchens on this round. That partly had to do with me wanting to try the new grilled cheese cart located near Test Track. I ordered a Gruyere and Applewood Smoked Bacon with Tomato Soup and Amara ordered the Canadian Cheddar with Apples and a salad. We swapped halves of our sandwhich with each other so we could both get a good taste of what Taste Track had to offer and we split our side items too. The Gruyere one was delicious and paired well with the Tomato Bisque. Had this been a cool day, the tomato bisque would have been perfect. But it wasn't, it was in the 80s this day so I did not eat much of the soup and gave Amara the rest. It was really yummy. Amara's favorite of the two was the Cheddar and Apples one. It came on cinnamon raisin bread with apple butter and she thought it was "sooooo gooood". The salad was not good at all in my opinion. The lettuce was not fresh. There was very little dressing and the golden raisins were all stuck together instead of mixed about through the salad.
After we finished at Epcot we headed over to the Magic Kingdom to catch Mr. Easter Bunny and Mrs. Easter Bunny before they finished meeting for the day. We got there just as Festival of Fantasy was coming by on Main Street and there was no line for the bunnies. The rain was coming in so we hopped over the chain and got under cover and was first in line. On our way out from meeting the bunnies we were given an egg shaped card with their autographs on it. Amara and I were both given one and Amara asked for an extra for her penpal and the cast member happily obliged.
We then went and rode some rides that I had fastpasses booked for and then headed out. We made a pit stop at The Grand Floridian to check out the Easter Egg display that was up. I wish I had kown The Contemporary had a display up as well because we would have gone to see those as well, but here are the ones from TGF.
I hope you enjoyed the photos. Leave a comment of your favorite one if you'd like. I have another post coming soon for our trip we took on April 4th as well, so if you like my Disney photos and posts, stay tuned!
