Holidays at Disney

On December 7 I took my family to Epcot and Hollywood Studios to enjoy some holiday fun Disney style.

We first went to Mexico to learn how Christmas is celebrated in Mexico. In previous years Mexico showcased the Three Wisemen telling their story of the journey to the birth of Christ. This year it was replaced with a mariachi band playing Christmas songs and they had two beautifully dressed dancers.

We then stopped at the American Adventure to learn about Kwanzaa and Hanuka.

We then headed to Italy for Amara's favorite storyteller, La Befana, a Christmas witch. A good witch though who appears on the Night of the Epiphany which is January 5.

After a quick break we made our way over to the UK Pavilion just in time to catch Father Christmas tell his story of Welsh Christmas carols and mistletoe. Another one of Amara's favorites as she is usually chosen as a participant, but she was not this year.

In China they debuted a new story teller as well. In past years it had been the story of the Monkey King. This year was the story of the Lion. This was a beautiful show and one of my personal favorites.

Our final storyteller of the day was Sigrid and Julenissan in Norway. Sigrid told us the story of Julenissan, the barn Santa, from her country. She had a little mischievous help from Julenissan himself.

We then made our way to International Gateway and the Friendship Boat dock to make our way over to Hollywood Studios for the Osborn Spectacle of Dancing Lights. My mother nor Jesse had seen this so this was definitely on our to see and do list for the day.

As we were stopped for a bite to eat. All day we had been walking around Epcot enjoying the storytellers. My mother had been walking slow as usual, and a bit limping. She can't move as fast as the rest of us. Just as I'm finishing my food Jesse points and says "There goes Santa Goofy." My mother excitedly said "Where?" As Jesse pointed my mother got up and was practically running to get in line to meet him. Here she had us all fooled that she could barely walk, but out comes Goofy dressed as Santa and she can now magically run. I'm onto your scheme!

There are still more photos to come of our Christmas time spent at Disney. So stay tuned!
